It is with great pleasure that we
announce the recipients of funding from the third round of the Patrick
C. Walsh Prostate Cancer Research Fund. This first round was extremely
successful with 22 applications being received. The review
panel spent significant effort reviewing each of the applications.
Although we did not have sufficient funds to support all of the work
that was deemed worthy of support, we were able to fund individuals
from diverse backgrounds and research projects. We are greatly anticipating
the exciting applications that will be submitted for the next round
later this year. Everyone is encouraged to apply. In addition to the
financial support, we provide assistance with the research project
being pursued. The recipients of this inaugural round of support are:

Dr. Patrick Walsh received
the American Urological Association's highest honor, the Ramon Guiteras
Award that is awarded to individuals for "outstanding contributions
to the art and science of urology".
Patrick Walsh receives the
Valentine Medal from the New York Academy of Medicine for his contributions
to the science and art of urology.
Donald S. Coffey receives
an award from the American Urological Association for his lifetime accomplishments
in urology.
